Museum Story

The Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, the Smithsonian's National Museum of Asian Art, opened to the public in 1923, a gift to the nation from Charles Lang Freer. The Gallery contains an extensive collection of oriental art, prints, sculpture and silk panels, as well as a major group of 19th and 20th century American works.

My 12 yo granddaughter has been teaching herself Japanese and loves the culture and beauty of the country. A silk Kimono is too expensive so a friend suggested a Yukata, which is made of cotton. I found this lovely piece and ordered it right away for her birthday. The quality is excellent and it fit perfectly. She will be able to use this as a robe for years to come. The colors are exquisite and the detail like a fine painting. My granddaughter and I are both impressed by the quality of this product.
