Murano Glass Aquarium

This is a genuine Murano aquarium, which apparently have been discontinued by Murano and are not available in many places, also I read online that there are a lot of fakes out there. This is genuine and comes with the Murano sticker on the piece, and a little card certifying it is authentic. It is not exactly like the one in the photo, but this is to be expected since they are all unique. I really liked the one in the photo because it has a lot of blues and cute fish in it, but the one I received is very nice. Mine has six fish in mostly yellows and reds with one fish having blue. They are all bright colours, including the reef colours, one of which is a druzy gold which is nice. If I could have bought the one in the photo I would have because I like it better. I'm not too disappointed though, and the quality is great. This is a very heavy item and is 8 inches wide x 8 inches high x about 3 inches at the base, smaller at the top. What was upsetting was that after budgeting for this purchase, I had to pay, with no notice, duties of $48.00 making it more expensive than I had planned. I know Smithsonian is not responsible for this but it would be nice if they gave a coupon for future purchase for money off for the duties paid. Came well wrapped and no damage at all. The certificate of authenticity does not contain the same words as prescribed by the glassblowers of Murano. The fish do not have the same quality as those I saw in the aquaria on the island of Murano in Venice, Italy. The Smithsonian Store has not responded to my inquiries in a timely and satisfactory manner. I would not recommend this product due to doubts about its authenticity as Murano Glass. Vermont

We saw these at the Murano Glass factory in Venice in September of this year and my husband absolutely fell in love with them. He wanted one very much but was reluctant to try and bring it back and/or have it shipped from Italy so he left a little bit disappointed. When I saw this in the catalog, I knew I had to get it for him as a surprise so it will be under our tree at Christmas. Texas
