Description

Cheers to a set of bright and bold Murano Highball Glasses. Instantly recognizable for its bold colors and renowned for its quality craftsmanship, this glass is hand blown in Italy by skilled Venetian artisans. Murano glass pieces can be found in the glass and ceramics collections in the National Museum of American History.

The exact technique of the work is called Pastel. After the artist creates a glass ball of the desired color glass, the master passes the glass ball over pieces of colored glass (not transparent), thus giving a harlequin effect.

Museum Story

The Smithsonian's National Museum of American History, Behring Center, is responsible for the collection, care, and preservation of more than three million objects. The glass and ceramics collection contains tens of thousands of fragile artifacts from all over the world.

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 Beautifully Stoic

Other than my lifestyle, these Murano glassware are extraordinarily stoic. An art of beauty.

Customer Rating: 2 out of 5 Not as pictured on the web site

The glasses are not as pictured on the web site. They appear to be solid glass. In fact they are painted glasses. Nowhere on the web site is the description that they are hand painted. Big difference.
