Description

Experience the tranquil pleasure of a tropical fish aquarium without the need for feeding and maintenance. Beautifully expressing the strong tie between the tiny islands of Venice and the briny lagoon in which they reside, this Murano Glass Aquarium is handmade by Murano glass blowers. Colorful fish, underwater reeds, and decorations are created from glass rods, called murrina, then skillfully embedded (while nearly molten) within the glass "tank" of this enchanting Murano Glass Aquarium. The result is a masterful illusion of movement made more vibrant and magical in natural light.

Museum Story

This extraordinary Murano Glass Aquarium calls to mind the breathtaking interactive experience offered by our National Museum of Natural History's Sant Ocean Hall while celebrating the exceptional collection of Murano glass curated by our National Museum of American History. Renowned the world over for their centuries-long mastery of the fluid art of mouth-blown glass, Murano glass artisans create unique works of heirloom art.

Since this is larger than advertised it cannot go where I expected to put it. It does not come up to the quality of other Murano products, must have been made by an apprentice. Somewhat "garish" rather than "delicate". Wayland, MA

I looked at this for almost a year, but wasn't sure about buying something expensive and heavy without seeing the actual one I was purchasing. During a recent sale, I took the plunge, and I believe it is even prettier than the one pictured in the catalogs (which I liked very much!) It's colorful, whimsical and different, and could accent many different spots in a home or office. I've received many compliments on it, even from people who don't tend to notice decor very much! While glass, it is very solid, and was packed compactly and safely, so I imagine if you really wanted a different one, it would be worth exchanging at least once. But you might be as happily surprised as I was! Love it! Michigan
