Description
Four stamps, two moments, fifty years of American space history—framed and matted and ready to hang. The 1971 pair (Scott #1434-1435) was released on Earth the same day Apollo 15 astronaut David Scott postmarked a First Day Cover on the lunar surface. Designed by Robert McCall, the stamps marked a decade of American spaceflight, from Alan Shepard's first suborbital flight to the lunar rover's debut. The 2019 pair (Scott #5399-5400), printed on chrome paper for the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11, pictures Buzz Aldrin on the lunar surface and marks the Sea of Tranquility landing site.
