Description
On May 15, 1918, the U.S. Post Office launched its first airmail service using the Curtiss JN-4-H, the workhorse training aircraft of World War I nicknamed the Jenny. The 24-cent stamp issued for the service became an instant collector's item when one sheet of 100 was printed with the Jenny's image upside down. Two of those original stamps—among the rarest and most coveted by American stamp collectors—are on display at the Smithsonian's National Postal Museum. This solid brass ornament reproduces the stamp in etched relief and screen-printed colors. Includes a gold ribbon hanger and arrives in a gift-ready box.
