Description

Orville and Wilbur Wright inaugurated the aerial age with their 12-second flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. It was the first successful flight of a powered, controlled, heavier-than-air flying machine, which is now one of the most iconic artifacts in the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum. This navy blue hooded tee commemorates more than 120 years of American flight with a drawing of the 1903 Wright Flyer.

Museum Story

The Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum maintains the world's largest and most significant collection of aviation and space artifacts, encompassing all aspects of human flight, as well as related works of art and archival materials. The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center is the companion facility to the museum and houses hundreds of historically significant air- and spacecraft, along with thousands of small artifacts.
