Description
Locating celestial objects has never been easier with the first telescope that uses your smartphone to analyze the night sky and calculate its position in real time. Ideal for beginners and perfect whether you're in the city or dark sky locations.
Just set your phone in the unique StarSense dock and launch the StarSense Explorer app. It takes 2 minutes to align your phone to the telescope's optics and then generate a list of currently visible celestial objects.
It also includes a 90-degree erect image diagonal, so you can use it during the day to view birds, wildlife, landscapes, and more. The entire telescope kit weighs 9.2 pounds, so it's portable enough to bring on your next camping trip or to a remote observing site.
Museum Story
Since its founding more than 130 years ago, the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory—now a part of the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian—has been asking and answering big questions about the Universe, our solar system, and our home, Earth. Our scientists have been a part of projects that have discovered countless stars, nebulae, galaxies, and other objects in space, including capturing the first-ever images of black holes. Visit our sites in Cambridge, Hawai'i, and Arizona to get an up close and personal understanding of what it takes to bring the stars to you.
