Museum Story
A Louis Comfort Tiffany dragonfly lamp recently exhibited at our Cooper-Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum was the inspiration for this "Stained Glass" Dragonfly Auto Open/Close Umbrella. Opened in 1897 by the three Hewitt sisters'granddaughters of industrialist Peter Cooper'they created a museum that functions as a visual library of design. Now housed in the 1902 Andrew Carnegie mansion in New York City, the collections include art glass and lighting.
