Firmly rooted in genuine amethyst, this enchanting Gemstone Bonsai with copper roots, trunk and branches bears gemstones rather than leaves or fruit. Natural variations will occur.

Museum Story

This is a beautiful piece that I plan to give as a gift. However, I did not realize that it had to be "assembled" which merely means arranging the stones on the tree. It seems simple enough to do though. Las Vegas, NV

I purchased this as a gift; I wanted something that wouldn't take up much room but was attractive and unusual. This fits the bill. New Mexico

I planned to use it as a gift but it was a disappointment. The amethyst base is very poor quality amethyst without much color or crystalline character. This gives the entire tree a very cheap, bland appearance. It gives the impression that the stones are not really gemstones but just cheap look-alikes. I have purchased many things from Smithsonian but this is not what I would expect, especially at the price. California

I bought it to give as a gift. Nice looking on the catalog. I like the idea of all the gemstones included on it. I expected to be larger than it is. California

I use it for a decorative element primarily in the bathroom and bedroom. My tree wasn't nearly as pretty as the one pictured in the catalog. Mine has mostly reddish-brown gems and is very bland looking. It's also difficult to arrange attractively. I'm tempted to send it back, but I'm afraid I'll just get another ugly one. Kansas City, MO

This is a great buy for those interested in experiencing a multitude of different and not so different gemstones. So many varieties and the chunk of amethyst s quite beautiful. The construction really does reflect the image of a bonsai tree. A wonderful value and interesting quality piece of art. Virginia
