Museum Story

Prized since the Stone Age, amber—especially 40,000-50,000 year-old Baltic amber—is an organic gem that is appreciated for its naturally glowing translucence. Amber's timeless appeal is evidenced by the number and variety of amber jewelry pieces curated by our National Museums of Natural History.

We visited Poland three times between 1978 and 2011. The yellowish to white occluded amber, versus the clear, is the most popular there, with the white being the most sought after according to our Polish friends. These earrings are easily comparable to what we saw in the local jewelry stores on our visits. Even during these COVID-19 times Susan enjoys wearing earrings around the house in her jeans or sweats. These made an excellent birthday gift. Atlanta, GA
