Description

Cheers to a set of bright and bold Murano Highball Glasses. For centuries the Venetian island of Murano has been home to some of the world's greatest glass artisans and this lively set of cocktail glasses, iced tea glasses, or simple water glasses is a beautiful way to enjoy the tradition every day.

Each of these Murano drinking glasses is created by first gathering a globe of molten colored glass onto a rod and then rolling it in a bed of tiny multicolored glass shards. As the artist blows and rotates the molten glass into shape, the small shards stretch and expand, creating the harlequin effect you see here. Though they may appear hand-painted, Murano glass artisans are known for their ability to achieve multicolored effects using only fused molten glass. No two pieces are alike and their handcrafted nature is part of the appeal of our Murano glasses set.

Customer Rating: 1 out of 5 Is this genuine Murano glass?

About a month after the purchase, I discovered a crack roughly two inches long along the wall of one of the glasses. The location, length, and characteristics of the crack don't suggest any impact during shipping. Instead, it appears to be the result of internal material stress, likely caused by improper cooling during production.

Customer Rating: 4 out of 5 Four stars, could be five easily

A beautiful piece of art overall, but a few flaws diminish the experience: 1. Though purchased as a gift from a catalog, it arrived in a plain brown shipping box. While the packaging was secure and protective, a product at the $120 price point would benefit from a simple gift box presentation—it doesn’t feel like bulk restaurant supply. 2. One of the glasses has a noticeably uneven, bulging base, causing it to wobble when placed on a surface. For an item costing $120, stronger quality control would be expected.

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 Beautifully Stoic

Other than my lifestyle, these Murano glassware are extraordinarily stoic. An art of beauty.

Customer Rating: 2 out of 5 Not as pictured on the web site

The glasses are not as pictured on the web site. They appear to be solid glass. In fact they are painted glasses. Nowhere on the web site is the description that they are hand painted. Big difference.
