Description
This super cool kids' t-shirt glows in the dark, which is helpful when you don't have the amazing echolocation skills of the tiny fringe-lipped bat. It's just one of thousands of creatures that the scientists at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute observe and study in Panama. These nocturnal creatures, often weighing no more than one ounce, use sound to help them detect the insects, lizards, and even frogs that make up their nightly diet. Our 100% cotton tee commemorates the exhibition "Barro Colorado Island: 100 Years of Discovery and Wonder" at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History.
Museum Story
The Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI) has opened its first bilingual exhibition at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. "Barro Colorado Island: 100 Years of Discovery and Wonder," STRI's first major exhibition on the National Mall, celebrates 100 years of tropical forest research on Barro Colorado Island in Panama, the world's oldest continuously studied tropical forest.
