These Four Seasons Waterglobes recalls the Smithsonian's extensive seasonal plantings and cherry blossom artworks at our Freer Gallery of Art. A gift to the nation by Charles Lang Freer, the Gallery contains an extensive collection of oriental art, prints, sculpture and ceramics.

Just returned from a trip to D.C. that included a visit to the Smithsonian Castle, while browsing through the gift shop, these globes caught my eye. They were beautiful with abundant, slow-falling "snow"! I wanted to purchase them on the spot, but had very little room in my suitcase and they were fairly heavy ( which is a good thing that speaks about the quality of the item). Got this as a wedding gift for a friend who had her eyes on when we were looking at the catalog. They look much better than on the website or catalog. I liked couple of them so much that I might get them in the future for myself. But as far as a wedding gift (because it gets to be an expensive one once you add the shipping and all) well, the grey boxes they come in, look cheap. I would have prefered a plain white box for that matter. Nevertheless, am happy to offer her this gift and hopefully, she will like it as well. Canada
