Alexander Hamilton was a Founding Father whose influence on the American economy is still felt today. As the first Secretary of the Treasury, he established the federal banking system and the United States Mint; he co-authored the Federalist Papers; and he founded Paterson, New Jersey, the nation's first planned industrial city.
