Description

History of the World Map by Map proves that maps don't just show us where to go, but also where we've been. A stunning overview of all human history, side by side with 140 custom maps. This stunning visual reference book starts with the evolution and migration of our oldest ancestors out of Africa. You can then look up maps about the Greece and Persian War, the Mongol Conquests, Medieval Europe's trade routes, and the rise of the Ottomans. There are maps about the colonization of North America, the scientific revolution, Napoleon's advances, and Britain's control of India. There's more in later centuries, like the Age of Imperialism, the American Civil War, industrialized Europe, and the transformation of Japan.

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 World map complements AP World History

What a beautiful set of maps! As an AP World History and U.S. History teacher, I started integrating this book into daily lessons. It is the perfect complement for your child's textbook and classroom resources. Clear color-coded maps with historical explanations provide a geographic context not found in textbooks. I highly recommend History of the World, Map by Map as part of a visual education that will better help understand the historical process.

This book is great but was damaged during shipping. It is a gift and I sent an email asking for a replacement but have not heard back from anyone at Smithsonian. I will return the damaged book as soon as I receive a replacement. Please have someone get in touch with me.

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 Great Read

This was a gift to a history buff who loves maps. Couldn't have found a better gift! Great maps with lots of details and wide scope of history. I would recommend this for anyone interested in seeing history through the eyes of clearly presented gorgeously printed maps and information.
