$25.00
Smithsonian Exclusive Smithsonian Institution Exclusive

Made from genuine USPS postage stamps, this Set of 4 Postal Museum Stamp Pins reprises the block of four 29-cent commemorative stamps issued on July 30, 1993, the day the Smithsonian's National Postal Museum opened to the public. Designed by Lou Noland and Richard Schlecht, the designs depict historical moments from three centuries of U.S. postal history. A portrait of Benjamin Franklin, and images of a printing press, mail rider, and Independence Hall represent the 18th century. Images of a civil war soldier, Concord stagecoach, and pony express rider represent the 19th century. Airmail pilot Charles Lindbergh, and images of a railway mail car, a 1931 Model A Ford mail truck, and a JN-4H "Jenny" biplane represent the 20th century. The fourth stamp celebrates the art of letter writing with memorable words from a California gold rush letter writer, four prized U.S. stamps, an undated postmark, and a barcode. Laminated paper. Metal pin back clasps. Made in the U.S.A.
