A traditional Japanese hip- or thigh-length kimono jacket, this exceptionally feminine pink garment is a satiny silk jacquard whose subtle, wavy-line design is interwoven with a profusion of white and pink blossoms. The hidden stitches of the beautiful silk lining make this haori fully reversible. Haoris are designed with open fronts so that something of what is worn beneath is revealed. 100% silk. A traditional Japanese hip- or thigh-length kimono jacket, this glorious pink coral silk garment is graced with an all over floral design of large red and green blossoms. The pattern was created with the katazome technique, a method of resist dyeing in which a paste is applied through a stencil. This hand-sewn, vintage haori was sourced from a Kyoto market or auction. A traditional Japanese hip- or thigh-length kimono jacket, this gorgeous, soft pink silk garment is graced with bouquets of chrysanthemums—on the front and more lavishly on the back and sleeves. (Chrysanthemums, or kiku, symbolize the Japanese monarchy, which is referred to as the Chrysanthemum Throne.) The puckered texture and chrysanthemum design were created with the shibori technique—a resist-dye process that involves stitching, folding, binding and clamping. The hidden stitches of the beautiful silk lining make this haori fully reversible. Haoris are designed with open fronts so that something of what is worn beneath is revealed. 100% silk.
