Description

Women in Science: 50 Fearless Pioneers Who Changed the World is a charmingly illustrated and educational book. Women in Science highlights the contributions of fifty notable women to the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) from the ancient to the modern world. Full of striking, singular art, this fascinating collection also contains infographics about relevant topics such as lab equipment, rates of women currently working in STEM fields, and an illustrated scientific glossary. The trailblazing women profiled include well-known figures like primatologist Jane Goodall, as well as lesser-known pioneers such as Katherine Johnson, the African-American physicist and mathematician who calculated the trajectory of the 1969 Apollo 11 mission to the moon.

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 Loved it so much, we bought a second copy

My daughter received this book as a gift a few years ago and loved it! Now, she wants to make sure her younger cousin gets to experience the book herself and insisted in gifting it to her.

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 Ordered as gift--kept it myself

I'd ordered this book as a gift for an 11-year-old girl and found it so informative, visually attractive, and delightful that I kept it for myself and ordered another to give. Each women scientist is featured in a two-page spread including a biography with historical context, richly illustrated with vignettes in the margins that are captioned with additional facts. This is a wonderful introduction for middle school girls, but anyone who loves graphic books would enjoy this.
