This 394-piece Temple Newsam House Wooden Puzzle re-creates hand-painted wallpaper gracing the Chinese Drawing Room at Temple Newsam mansion, Leeds, England. Unique shapes (including dozens of whimsies) are finely crafted of quarter-inch maple veneer plywood and the finest archival ink and paper. Made in the U.S.A.
This Temple Newsam House Wooden Puzzle evokes antique Chinese wallpaper in our Cooper-Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. Opened in 1897 by the three Hewitt sisters—granddaughters of industrialist Peter Cooper—they wanted to create a museum that would function as a visual library of design. Now housed in the 1902 Andrew Carnegie mansion in New York City, the collections include a spectrum of textiles and weaving techniques.
