A salute to the gorillas and orangutans at the Smithsonian's National Zoo, these Smithsonian Zoo Great Apes Tube Socks are a set of 2, one pair each featuring a gorilla and an orangutan in their natural habitats. Polyester, spandex. Made in the U.S.A.
Listed as critically endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, six western lowland gorillas—Baraka, Kwame, Kojo, Mandara, Calaya, and the youngest Kibibi—reside in the Great Ape House at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo. Joining them there are six orangutans—Batang, Bonnie, Iris, Kiko, Kyle and Lucy. They can use the Zoo’s unique Orangutan Transit System (the O Line) to cross overhead between the Great Ape House and the Think Tank building.

Gorillas and orangutans are studied by the Smithsonian’s Department of Vertebrate Zoology.
