Smithsonian Institution Exclusive

This Smithsonian La Princesse Necklace is hand-strung and -knotted, and features hand-painted porcelain beads, agate and quartz gems, and a carved cinnabar oval. Hematite and rhodonite accents. Sterling silver findings. Assembled in the U.S.A. Natural variations will occur.
Flowers and other motifs from the garments, screens, and fans depicted in James McNeill Whistler’s painting The Princess from the Land of Porcelain (La Princesse du la pays de la porcelaine) are reprised in this exquisite Smithsonian La Princesse Necklace. Held in the collections of our Freer Gallery of Art, and on display in The Peacock Room, this 1863-64 painting portrays Christine Spartali, a noted beauty of the 1860s.
