Saw-Whet Owl Sculpture
Item #80186
We regret that this item is not available at this time.
Like the burrowing owls at our National Zoo, this adorable Saw-Whet Owl Sculpture reminds us that in nature, the saw-whet is as small as a robin and makes a tooting whistle like a saw being sharpened on a whetstone. His head shyly turned—to question, to ponder, perhaps to greet—this Saw-Whet Owl Sculpture hopes to find a permanent home with you. Cast aluminum with bronzed finish.
Infinitely appealing and wisely mute, this Saw-Whet Owl Sculpture recalls burrowing owls—also about the size of a robin—at our National Zoo.

Fine owl sculptures are among the collections at our Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, our Smithsonian American Art Museum, and our National Museum of the American Indian.

"I have placed different decorative items in my son's bedroom. One by one he moved them slowly to a different room but this owl stays on the book case. He must have liked it as much as I do."

"...I've always been a big fan of owls, so having this little fellow in the house is fun. (His eye seems to be cocked at me, and he seems about to move forward across my chest-of-drawers). The detail is very nice, it's a reasonably heavy, tip-resistant small piece that I enjoy seeing every day."
