This dazzling Navajo Turquoise-Accented Sterling Silver Concha Bracelet links petal-stamped conchas with double links resembling bridle bits. Designed and handcrafted by Marie Yazzie of the celebrated Yazzie family, this Navajo Turquoise-Accented Sterling Silver Concha Bracelet embellishes each concha and link with a beautiful turquoise cabochon. (The just-published work Glittering World available from our online store, and the amazing NMAI New York exhibit of the same name tell the story of Navajo jewelry making through the art of the Yazzies.) Handcrafted in the U.S.A. with sterling silver jump ring clasp. Naturally occurring turquoise variations, handmade silver conchas and links assure each bracelet is one-of-a-kind.
Originally conchas—like those gracing this Navajo Turquoise-Accented Sterling Silver Concha Bracelet—were linked together to form Navajo belts, one of the most compelling designs of the Navajo silversmith’s art. Time-consuming to make, each design element of a handmade concha is struck one at a time with a home-made die and a hand hammer. Our National Museum of the American Indian curates hundreds of Navajo jewelry pieces, including silver concha belts, buckles, buttons, brooches and earrings.
