Award-winning Navajo silversmith Nelson Morgan has designed and handcrafted these sophisticated Navajo Kingman Turquoise and Silver Feather Pierced Earrings. The feathers of these Navajo Kingman Turquoise and Silver Feather Pierced Earrings feature superb cut out design-work and dangle freely from a bezel-set, square cut Kingman turquoise stone. (Kingman turquoise is known for its blue hues and light-brown-to-black matrices.) Sterling silver. Handcrafted in the U.S.A. Naturally occurring turquoise variations and individually crafted settings assure each pair of earrings is unique.
The beautiful, polished cabochons studding these Navajo Kingman Turquoise and Silver Feather Pierced Earrings were unearthed from the Kingman mines in northwest Arizona, which were first worked by ancient Native American civilizations. Rediscovered in the 1880s, Navajo hammers and polishing tools were found there along with Native American hammers from 600 CE. Among the hundreds of Navajo jewelry pieces curated by the National Museum of the American Indian are many bracelets and rings adorned with Kingman Turquoise gems.
