Elaine Salazar Blackware Pot
Item #80510
We regret that this item is not available at this time.
Renowned for their dramatic black-on-black pottery, Santa Clara Pueblo artists like Elaine Salazar achieve their glossy ebony finish by firing their hand-coiled, hand-shaped, and stone-polished clay vessels over a smothered outdoor fire. The trapped carbon-rich smoke surrounds the pottery and becomes embedded in the clay. Elaine Salazar’s one-of-a-kind Blackware Pot features a precisely incised geometric design. Handcrafted in New Mexico.
This Elaine Salazar Blackware Pot is finely crafted in the Santa Clara Pueblo tradition. Many fine examples of Santa Clara blackware pottery are curated by our National Museum of the American Indian.
