D. Lewis Garcia Seed Pot
Item #77350
Tell A Friend
Acoma Pueblo artist D. Lewis Garcia hand painted this traditional seed pot vessel in exceptional detail—both the artistic bird and the intricate, fine-lined geometric designs. A one-of-a-kind work of art, showcasing natural clay slip pigments, the seed pot shape was formed from coils of locally gathered Acoma Pueblo clay. The finished pot was then fired over an open pit kiln. Signed by the artist. Handcrafted in New Mexico.
This D. Lewis Garcia Seed Pot is a vessel for storing seeds during the winter. In the spring, the seed can be carried directly to the fields where the seeds will be planted. Authentic Acoma Pueblo pottery is well represented in the collections of our National Museum of the American Indian.
