These 100 stunning postcards celebrating Black women chronicle the groundbreakers and history makers, from Harriet Tubman and Rosa Parks to Angela Davis and Beyoncé—published in collaboration with the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture. Based on the children's book Brave. Black. First., these empowering postcards celebrate artists, athletes, activists, politicians, and writers who championed civil rights in their communities. Each card features a portrait, an inspiring quote, short biographical information, and space for writing a message. With two postcards for every portrait, you'll have one to send and one to save.
The National Museum of African American History and Culture is the nation's largest and most comprehensive cultural destination devoted exclusively to exploring, documenting, and showcasing the African American story and its impact on American and world history. Established by an Act of Congress in 2003, it is the culmination of decades of efforts to establish a national museum that promotes and highlights the contributions of African Americans. To date, the Museum has collected close to 37,000 objects.
