Beautiful day into evening, hand-faceted chalcedony beads—framed in gold-filled bezels—dangle from gold-filled earwires. Made in the U.S.A. Slight variations will occur.
These Blue Chalcedony Pierced Earrings celebrate primary chalcedony gems included in the National Gem and Mineral Collection at our National Museum of Natural History. One of the greatest collections of its kind, the National Gem and Mineral Collection includes over 375,000 individual specimens and treasured jewelry pieces.
Chalcedony is a fine-grained microcrystalline quartz with a waxy luster that occurs in many colors—typically white, gray or translucent blue. Named for the ancient maritime town of Chalcedon at the mouth of the Bosphorus, chalcedony was a treasured gem of the ancient world.
