Blossom Cloisonné and Cultured Pearl Earrings
Item #48675
Tell A Friend
Classic in every season, these elegant earrings dangle gorgeous cloisonné beads—delicately patterned with pink blossoms—and cultured pearls. Gold-plated spacers and earwires. Made in the U.S.A.
An art form originating in the Middle East and elevated in China (after its arrival there in the 13th and 14th centuries), the cloisonné technique adorns copper, bronze, or brass objects with copper wire designs. The resulting cells are then filled with enamel, fired in a kiln and polished, creating a harmonious contrast between the gleaming metal and the jewel-hued enamel. Cloisonné and jade jewelry can be found in our Freer Gallery of Art. A gift to the nation from Charles Lang Freer, the Freer Gallery contains the world's most important collections of Asian art.
1.5"l. Gold-plated earwires.
