Smithsonian Exclusive Smithsonian Institution Exclusive

Round and rectangular beads of hand-strung, tumbled gemstone aventurine lend the look of jade to this stylish stretch bracelet. Aventurine is thought to engender inner peace. Natural variations in color and shimmer will occur. Made in China.
The collections of our Freer Gallery of Art, which curates one of the world's most important collections of Asian art, include numerous beads and jewelry pieces—many crafted in jade, a visual cousin to green aventurine.
Aventurine is a compact variety of translucent to opaque quartz that is sometimes mistaken for jade. Small inclusions of shiny minerals give this stone a sparkling effect, called aventurescence. Typically green, aventurine can also be peach, brown, or blue.
