With honeybees and honey-hued amber sharing a 40-million-year history, this sculptural Amber Honeybee Necklace is an eye-catching marriage of natural elements. Handmade in Poland by highly skilled artisans, the head and tail of this elegant and highly detailed Amber Honeybee Necklace are delicately fashioned from gem-quality Baltic amber in rich shades of honey, cream and lemon. The finely worked body, openwork wings and included omega chain are oxidized sterling silver. Natural variations will occur.
Magnificent and timeless, the pendant of this stunning Amber Honeybee Necklace reprises the naturalistic style of early 20th-century art nouveau jewelry, while recalling figurative amber jewelry in the Smithsonian Institution’s National Gem Collection. Comprised of more than 7,500 individual gemstones, the National Gem Collection is considered one of the world’s finest.
Pendant, 2.25" x 2.25". Chain with lobster claw clasp, 18"l.

"I've been eyeing this honey bee for a long time, but couldn't justify the expense, especially since there's the exchange rate, shipping cost and import taxes to add on. Being on sale, it was still more than I can afford, but I decided to treat myself anyway."

"I have collected interesting and unique jewelry as a hobby for over 30 years. I bought this piece to commemorate a trial and subsequent triumph in my life. I had been injured when trying to shoo a wasp out of the minivan. Stepping up on the running board to reach into the van, I struck my head on the inside top of the door frame, resulting in unconsciousness and a severe neck injury. The nature of the injury was misdiagnosed for years until a researcher came up with the correct diagnosis and treatment. Although there are residual difficulties that are intractable, I function fairly well. All this due to an insect. Now I've got him!"

"Such poor workmanship that I had to return something for the very first time. The piece is black and white, and lacks any lustre that you might anticipate from the picture. It was even more galling to discover that the same piece is being sold by the Chicago art museum for less than half the price here. Lost money both ways shipping and was left with a bitter and frustrating experience."

"I happen to know that Amber is the national "gem" of Lithuania - and that a young girl should have inherited some amber filled jewelry by her age of maturity. AND...that no piece of amber is the same - as it is VERY VERY old. Therefore, I do not expect amber to be uniform (unlike one of the con reviewers). I LOVED my necklace. It is my Christmas gift to myself and my most unusual piece of jewelry!!! It will get compliments, I know. I am thrilled, also, to help the work of the Smithsonian - a very worthy cause. I am proud of our national museum, having grown up in Chevy Chase, MD and having access to it many times. KUDOS to the buyers for the Smithsonian catalogue!"
