In the dual language book Pleibol: In the Barrios and the Big Leagues, readers explore the relationship between the Latino community and baseball in America. The stories delve into the historic role the sport has played as a social and cultural force for the Latino community for more than a century. Each chapter features artifacts from the Smithsonian exhibits to bring the past and present together and reveal how baseball is more than just a game.
The Smithsonian's National Museum of American History, Behring Center, is responsible for the collection, care, and preservation of more than three million objects. It will soon open the Molina Family Latino Gallery, the first national gallery dedicated to Latina/o/x culture.
