Museum Story
The long tradition of stamping designs into sterling silver—like the incised designs of this 14k and Sterling Silver Pendant on Link Chain—is believed to have begun in the 1850s with Atsidi Sani, who is said to have learned to work silver from a Mexican smith. The extensive Navajo jewelry holdings of the National Museum of the American Indian include many beautiful examples of hand-stamped sterling silver cuff bracelets.
