Museum Provenance

A supersonic passenger jet, the Concorde was a product of an Anglo-French government treaty, combining the manufacturing efforts of Aerospatiale and the British Aircraft Corporation. First flown in 1969, Concorde entered service in 1976 and continued commercial flights for 27 years. Air France made its final commercial Concorde flight from Paris to New York City on May 30, 2003. In June of that year, France donated Concorde F-BVFA to the National Air and Space Museum. It is currently on display in the Boeing Aviation Hangar at the Stephen F. Udvar-Hazy Center.

Every Smithsonian purchase will arrive with a museum provenance card explaining how it is adapted from or inspired by an object or objects in our collection.
