Museum Provenance
The Enid A. Haupt Moongate Garden, near our Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, was inspired by the gardens and architecture of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, China and utilizes many of these elements. Our collection of Asian garden items are inspired by the Moongate Garden and garden ornaments in our Horticulture Services Division.
Every Smithsonian purchase will arrive with a museum provenance card explaining how it is adapted from or inspired by an object or objects in our collection.
