The cotton twill body of the handbag is elegantly contrasted by a tone-on-tone black kimono fabric flap with a five-yen coin on the tassel. Satin lining; magnetic snap closure; rayon-twist shoulder cord. Made in the USA. Museum Provenance

This Vintage Kimono Handbag is inspired by a work in the Smithsonian’s Arthur M. Sackler Gallery. A repository for Asian art and artifacts, the Sackler Gallery features both permanent and temporary exhibitions of Asian art from ancient times to contemporary. Highlights include South Asian sculpture, Chinese jades and bronzes, modern Japanese ceramics.
