Price (member): $45.00
This tin Piggy Watering Can is hog wild about gardening—sprinkling plants from her snout spout or decoratively wallowing amongst the petunias. Quite the ham, she also loves to be the center of attention on rustic farm or picnic tables or anywhere else you’d like to place her. 13"h. x 13"w. x 8"d.
The Smithsonian’s Archives of American Gardens include photographs of decorative yard ornaments. During WWII, Americans were encouraged to plant home "victory gardens" to ensure there was enough commercially-produced produce for our troops. That extraordinarily successful volunteer effort is acknowledged today at our National Museum of American History Victory Garden, where over fifty classic plants and vegetable varieties are planted.
Every Smithsonian purchase will arrive with a museum provenance card explaining how it is adapted from or inspired by an object or objects in our collection.
