Calling all pint sized lumberjacks! Beau the plush stuffed beaver is a bundle of soft furry softness whose sole mission in life is to love and be loved. Instead of building a dam, chopping down trees or frolicking in the water, Plush Stuffed Beau the Beaver just wants to play. Plush Stuffed Beau the Beaver is made of high quality kid safe man-made materials—soft plush exterior; polyester fiber interior; lock washer eyes—and meets or exceeds all U.S. safety standards. Surface-washable. Imported. Ages 3 and up.  12"l. x 4"w. x 4.75"h.

Museum Provenance

The second largest rodent in the world, the North American beaver is adapted to life in the water. Its flat tail provides balance on land and slaps warning signals in the water. Its webbed rear feet propel it through the water. Beavers also eat wood—their large incisors cut down trees and massive cheek teeth mash the tough wood. Mammals, which include human beings, are one class of warm-blooded vertebrate animals that have evolved and adapted to our planet. The Kenneth E. Behring Family Hall of Mammals at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History explores the diversity of some 274 mammals and how they originated and adapted to changing landscapes and environments over the last 225 million years.

Every Smithsonian purchase will arrive with a museum provenance card explaining how it is adapted from or inspired by an object or objects in our collection.
