This was a gift from a friend, but I ordered it because he was unable to complete the order himself. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed in the quality and returned the necklace and earrings. The earring posts were rough and painful after only a few seconds of trying to wear them. The necklace was too short and, on top of that, didn't hang straight. I was doubly disappointed in Smithsonian when the $20 shipping fee I was charged was not credited to my charge card. So I ended up paying $20 plus $6 or so return shipping for inferior products. For the price of these items I would have expected a lot more and certainly would not have expected to have to pay just under $30 shipping charges for the experience! The money he sent for this gift will be used for practical clothing.

I have 3 weddings to attend in 2011 and purchased the amethyst earrings from this collection to wear with an amethyst pendant I already own.
The color of the stones is beautiful; a deep, clear purple. Color is not too dark, not too light--just right

Always difficult to shop for an anniversary present for my wife, who has everything. While this is not a significant anniversary (at our age, I guess they are all significant), I did not want to get carried away in terms of cost. The earrings are attractive, somewhat unique, and I am certain she'll like them.
