|A Smithsonian Institution Exclusive|
Be in the historic moment with this Women’s Star-Spangled Banner Newsprint Tee. Casual and patriotic chic at its trendiest, this boatneck mesh top features a word collage commemorating the 200th anniversary of the Star-Spangled Banner and the National Anthem that it inspired Frances Scott Key to write. Soft 100% cotton. Machine wash. Tumble dry. Handcrafted in the U.S.A. Sizes S, M, L, XL.
This Women’s Star-Spangled Banner Newsprint Tee celebrates the Star-Spangled Banner, which flew over Fort McHenry during the unsuccessful British bombardment of 1814. This year the National Museum of American History—where it is protected, preserved and displayed—is hosting a year-long celebration of its 200th birthday. For six short weeks this summer, the Star-Spangled Banner will be accompanied by the original manuscript of our National Anthem for which this flag was the inspiration.
Every Smithsonian purchase will arrive with a museum provenance card explaining how it is adapted from or inspired by an object or objects in our collection.
