A Feast for the Eyes. The graceful undulations of this Italian Crystal Pouring Bowl recall the romance of Venetian waterways while serving as a vessel for favorite sauces or gravies. Handcrafted and individually painted by Venetian glass artisans, no two will be precisely the same. Food safe. Hand wash delicately. Certificate of authenticity. Each will vary slightly. Please note: The Spring 2013 Catalog incorrectly referenced the size of this item as 10" x 6". Please note that the actual size is 6" x 4".  6"l. x 4"w. 6 oz.

Museum Provenance

Though the Venetians are the acknowledged masters, artists worldwide are exploring the sculptural art of mouth-blown glass with unprecedented success—especially, renowned American glass artist Dale Chihuly, who apprenticed at a Murano glassworks. The collection of functional art is representative of the vast holdings in the glass collections of our National Museum of American History and Renwick Gallery, which include many examples of millefiori and other Murano glass.

Every Smithsonian purchase will arrive with a museum provenance card explaining how it is adapted from or inspired by an object or objects in our collection.
