Museum Provenance

This Glow in the Dark Spider Computer Mouse recalls insects flying, climbing or swimming in the plexi-glass walled displays at our O. Orkin Insect Zoo, National Museum of Natural History. The O. Orkin Insect Zoo is a special exhibit hall on the 2nd Floor of the museum where visitors can observe live insects and their many-legged relatives. Volunteers conduct tarantula feeding demonstrations, work with live insects that visitors may touch and hold, and answer questions about the many-legged creatures that live in the Insect Zoo.

Every Smithsonian purchase will arrive with a museum provenance card explaining how it is adapted from or inspired by an object or objects in our collection.

When I took this mouse out of the box I was amazed as to how real the spider was. I am NOT a spider lover but my husband is. He just loves his new mouse. It has become a topic of conversation and a horror to our grandchildren. They just love it! I highly recommend the mouse for any bug lovers! It was the perfect gift!

I'm sending it as a gift to my son on the other side of the Pacific Ocean. I opened the package when it arrived and was very tempted to keep it for myself. It exceeds my expectations. Although I have not tested it, I'm sure it will be as good, if not better, than most. It's so pretty! Even if its beauty outlasts its usefulness, we could always keep it as a decor. Perhaps as a paper weight.
