This one-of-a-kind Vintage Kimono Fan Handbag reprises a traditional Japanese fan design. Fashioned from black raw silk and vintage red kimono fabric, this flirty Vintage Kimono Fan Handbag with contrasting satin lining features a tassel-accented nylon zipper closure and a rayon-twist shoulder cord. Made in the USA. Because each is handmade from vintage fabric, no two will be precisely the same. 8"h. x 8"w. with 52"l. shoulder cord.

Museum Provenance

This Vintage Kimono Fan Handbag is inspired by a work in the Smithsonian’s Arthur M. Sackler Gallery. A repository for Asian art and artifacts, the Sackler Gallery features both permanent and temporary exhibitions of Asian art from ancient times to contemporary. Highlights include South Asian sculpture, Chinese jades and bronzes, modern Japanese ceramics.

Every Smithsonian purchase will arrive with a museum provenance card explaining how it is adapted from or inspired by an object or objects in our collection.
