Smithsonian Castle Leather Card Holder
|A Smithsonian Institution Exclusive|
The best of two worlds, the clever American design of this Smithsonian Castle Leather Card Holder is interpreted in pebbled Italian leather. Subtly embossed with the silhouette of our iconic Smithsonian Castle, our Castle leather Card Holder is slim enough to fit into a pants pocket. Interior features include ID window, 4 slots for credit cards and space for 50 business cards. Imported.
The silhouette gracing our exclusive Smithsonian Castle Leather Card Holder celebrates the first Smithsonian Institution building, affectionately known as the “Castle.” Designed by architect James Renwick, Jr., and completed in 1855, its Gothic Revival style sought to emulate the architecture of England’s universities. Why the red sandstone façade? It was significantly less expensive than marble or granite. In 1965, the Smithsonian Castle was designated a National Historic Landmark.
Every Smithsonian purchase will arrive with a museum provenance card explaining how it is adapted from or inspired by an object or objects in our collection.
