Museum Provenance
Dwight D. Eisenhower was the first president to be transported by helicopter while in office. He was piloted to Camp David and other important locations in a Bell’s Ranger H-13J, a small helicopter with room for two people in addition to one pilot. Today, President Obama flies to Camp David or other nearby locations in Marine One on the larger United States Marine Corps White Hawk Helicopter. Military aircraft, including helicopters, are displayed in our National Air and Space Museum Stephen F. Udvar-Hazy Center.
Every Smithsonian purchase will arrive with a museum provenance card explaining how it is adapted from or inspired by an object or objects in our collection.
