Will you adopt Edward Elephant? An incredibly plush stuffed animal, Edward Elephant, like his living cousins, has strong social bonds and likes to live in family groups. His pink ears beg to be tickled and his trunk would love to be nuzzled. He is not only eager to hug, cuddle, and play, he is ready to make a friend for life. Welcome this plush stuffed animal to a child’s make-believe menagerie or to an adult’s beloved stuffed animal collection. Soft plush exterior; polyester fiber interior; lock washer eyes. Surface-washable. Imported. 14"l. x 9"w. x 10.5"h.
Museum Provenance
There is only one family of Proboscidea alive today: Elephantidae, which has two herbivorous species, the African and Asiatic (Indian) elephants. Elephants are recognizable by their great size, huge head and ear flaps, a very long, mobile trunk, bulky body and four pillar-like legs. Hundred of mammals, including elephants, are exhibited in life-like settings of the Kenneth E. Behring Family Hall of Mammals at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History.
Every Smithsonian purchase will arrive with a museum provenance card explaining how it is adapted from or inspired by an object or objects in our collection.
