Little hands will be eager to navigate this toy Air Force One with the hand-held remote control. Happy to pretend they are flying the President of the United States to an important place, this radio controlled Air Force One is easy to maneuver on any hard surface—forward, backward, in a 360 degree circle. Youngsters will also delight in its realistic take off sound and flashing red lights. Remote control takes one 9V and two AA batteries (not included). Plastic. Choking Hazard: small parts not for children under age 3. 5.25"l. x 5.5"w. x 2"h.
Museum Provenance
Air Force One is the official call sign for any United States Air Force aircraft carrying the President of the United States. Currently, the presidential fleet includes two highly customized Boeing 747-200B series aircraft, maintained by the 89th Airlift Wing at Andrews Air Force Base. Its 4,000 square feet of floor space includes a bedroom, bathroom, workout room and office for the President; a conference room/dining room, staff office areas, and a separate area for reporters traveling with the President. In the National Museum of American History, Behring Center, virtual exhibit, The American Presidency: A Glorious Burden, all aspects of the Presidency are explored from elections, to the private life of Presidents in and out of the White House, to presidential aviation.
Every Smithsonian purchase will arrive with a museum provenance card explaining how it is adapted from or inspired by an object or objects in our collection.
