Lush, graduated garlands of peony-like flowers grace this lei-inspired Howlite Flowers Jewelry collection. Woven with color-enhanced discs of polished howlite centered with twinkling crystals, the Howlite Flowers Necklace features 5mm to 12mm howlite stones and a lobster claw clasp. The Howlite Flowers Bracelet is woven with 10mm teardrop howlite stones on two pieces of bendable, silver-plated wire to fit any wrist. The ultra-feminine Howlite Flowers Pierced Earrings are individual blossoms of howlite and crystal. Natural variations ensure each Howlite Flowers Necklace, Bracelet and Pierced Earring will be one of a kind.

Museum Provenance

Named for Henry How the Canadian mineralogist who first described it, Howlite is a colorless mineral often dyed to resemble other stones, especially turquoise. Because of its stability, howlite is a safer choice than non-sterling set turquoise because it is less likely to chip or break. More than 2,500 minerals are exhibited at our Janet Annenberg Hooker Hall of Geology, Gems and Minerals.

Every Smithsonian purchase will arrive with a museum provenance card explaining how it is adapted from or inspired by an object or objects in our collection.
