I loved this in the catalog! I thought about it, wished for it, but I thought it was expensive. Then I saw it was on sale, so I bought the necklace and the earrings. The necklace is gorgeous, and as pictured in the catalog. The earrings match each other, but they are very pinky, bright red in color and do not match back to the warm brown and orange reds of the necklace.
The stones are real, and I understand perfectly about variances and natural colorings, but these cannot be worn together; they clash terribly.
I called the Smithsonian customer service and explained the issue and was told very curtly, that if I cared to return them, I could, but no one was going to look at the earrings to see if they matched the necklace. It makes me sad, as I had really wanted this. I didn't bother to send it back. Too much hassle.

I just love these Apple Jade earings. They are both elegant and practical and with the lever backings they are comfortable to wear. The Apple Jade is a beautiful color for the Fall and will fit in with most any wardrobe. I intend to buy another pair as a gift for my sister.
